Announcements and Order of Worship – June 29 2018

Sermon Preview

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

It is so good to be back with you after some blessed days off.  Thank you for your kind prayers for us as we were away on vacation. We feel refreshed and rested, both physically and spiritually.

I want to especially express my deep appreciation for Rev. Jim Daughtry who so skillfully filled our pulpit for us the last two Sundays.  So many of you have reported to me how you were richly fed by Jim’s preaching.  Thank you dear brother for being available, and for being used of the Lord in such a wonderful way. One of the most treasured blessings a pastor can have is the assurance that while he is away, both the pulpit and the people are in good hands! We love you and Sharon and your dear family, and it is such an honor to have you among us!

This coming Lord’s Day we will resume our messages from the Epistle to the Colossians. Our text will be Colossians 1:13-14.  In these two verses Paul tells us about our salvation, and, more particularly, about what God has already accomplished for us in Christ His Beloved Son.  You may remember that the Bible speaks of our salvation in three ways: 1) what our Father has done, once and for all; 2) what our Father, through the Holy Spirit, is doing now; and 3) what our Father is yet to do for us in the future.

In this passage, Paul’s chief interest is in what has already been done for us. Namely, the Father has delivered us from darkness, transferred us into the kingdom of His Son, redeemed us, and forgiven us of all our sins. On Sunday we will explore these ‘once-for-all’ blessings that we all share in our Savior and Lord.

Meet Our Missionaries: Part Two

On Sunday morning, July 15, it will be our great joy to have Seth and Jessica Lewis with us, our missionaries serving in Ireland.  There will be a fellowship with them and their family at 9:15 AM that Sunday morning in our fellowship area.  And then we will hear a report from Seth in our morning worship service.

Pray for VBS—July 16-19

I wonder how many of us who are adults came into the Kingdom of God through Vacation Bible School.  I have nothing but fond memories and sincere gratitude as I recall my childhood years attending VBS in our church each summer.  Ours will be Monday July 16 through Thursday July 19 from 9:00-11:30 AM each day.  Please join me in fervent prayer for Ashley Turnbull, our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, and her team of teachers and helpers who are preparing for this important week in the life of our children and our whole church family.

I love you all so very much, and I can’t wait to see you on the Lord’s Day!

Mike
