    Call to Worship: Psalm 95:1-2

Pastor: Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
People: Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

    Prayer of Adoration:

Confession of Faith: The Westminster Confession of Faith, 5.1

God—the great Creator of all things—upholds, directs, disposes, and governs all creatures, actions, and things, from the greatest even to the least. He exercises this most wise and holy providence according to his infallible foreknowledge and the free and unchangeable counsel of his own will, to the praise of the glory of his wisdom, power, justice, goodness, and mercy.

    Old Testament Lesson: Exodus 17:1-7

Song: All Creatures of Our God and King – Hymn 115 v.1-2,5

Song: God Of My Life, To Thee I Call – CCLI# 5397370

God of my life, to Thee I call, afflicted at Thy feet I fall
When the great water flood prevail, leave not my trembling heart to fail

CHORUS: Poor though I am, despised, forgot
Yet God, my God, forgets me not
And he is safe, and must succeed, for whom the Lord is sure to plead

Friend of the friendless and the faint, where should I lodge my deep complaint?
Where but with Thee whose open door invites the helpless and the poor

    That were a grief I could not bear didst Thou not hear and answer prayer;
But a prayer hearing, answering God supports me under every load.

    New Testament Lesson: Romans 5:1-5

Song: Be Thou My Vision – Hymn 642 v.1-2,4-5

Scripture Reading and Prayer for the Church:
Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder – Matthew 16:1-12

Preaching of the Word: Dr. Michael Calvert, Teaching Elder
    “Exodus Again—Part Two”–Joshua 3:12-17

Corporate Prayer of Confession: Psalm 6:1-4

Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.

    Assurance of Pardon: Galatians 2:20

    Communion*:

    Song: Why So Heavy – CCLI# 5543234

Oh why so heavy, oh my soul? Thus to myself I’ve willed
Oh why so heavy, oh my heart? And why so sorrow filled?

CHORUS: Hope thou in God, He still shall be Thy glory and thy endless praise
His saving grace shall comfort thee through everlasting days,

His goodness made thee what thou art and yet will he redeem
Oh be thou of a contrite heart and put your trust in him.

    Benediction: Jude 1:24-25

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

*Professing and baptized members in good standing of a Church in which Jesus Christ is proclaimed as Lord and Savior are warmly invited to join us in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

Spring Men’s Bible Study: Our biannual Men’s Bible Study will kick off tonight from 5:00-6:30 PM at the Church. For five weeks (March 6, 13, 27, April 3, 10) we will be studying the theme, ‘Christ: Our Prophet, Priest, and King.’ Scripture teaches us that Jesus fulfilled three important Old Covenant offices, that of the prophet, the priest, and the king. Over these five sessions we will examine the Bible’s teaching on this rich subject and consider how it has direct application to men and their families. Our study will end on week six with a Men’s Fellowship Dinner on Sunday April 17th at 5:00 PM. All men and young men of the Church are encouraged to attend, and guests are most welcome! If you have any questions please contact Mr. Mark Cooper, our Men’s Ministry Coordinator.

Calendar/Other Announcements: As always, check the website www.christpreshamptoncove.org for additional news and upcoming events.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

Our sermon text for this coming Lord’s Day will be Joshua 3:12-17.  This passage provides the record of Israel’s miraculous crossing of the Jordan River as led by Joshua and the priests who carried the ark of the Lord—an event that replicated the earlier crossing of the Red Sea under the leadership of Moses.  As we look back upon this amazing event on ‘Jordan’s stormy banks’ we want to know the significance of the two similar crossings, and how these events have shaped the Biblical narrative of salvation.  With our eyes carefully trained through the lens of the New Covenant in Christ our Lord, we will begin to see how this Old Testament miracle foreshadows the more powerful and glorious miracle of our own redemption by the life, death, and bodily resurrection of Jesus, as well as the life of service, love, and obedience that follows true faith.

A Special Word About Middle and High School Sunday School

Beginning this Sunday our two Youth Sunday School classes will be meeting back in the Church in the Education wing (and no longer in the Church House).

And speaking of Sunday School, our last day of Sunday School before the summer break will be May 22.

Our Men’s Spring Bible Study Will Begin This Sunday Evening at 5:00 PM

Twice a year our Men get together for a rich and refreshing time of fellowship and Bible study. Our five-part spring study will be on the subject of Christ: Our Prophet, Priest, and King. The first session is this Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the Education wing.  The title of our initial lesson is ‘Knowing Christ: Moving Beyond the Basics.’ This is always a wonderful time of making connections, building brotherly bonds, and growing in our maturity as men of God.  I hope all of our men will join us, and guests are most welcome!

    Easter Week Is Fast Approaching!

During the week of Easter we will have three worship services. Thursday night March 24 will be our Maundy Thursday Service of Worship at 6:00 PM. On Friday night, March 25 at 6:00 PM we will have our Good Friday Service of Worship.  A Nursery will be provided for both services. And then, Easter Sunday is March 27.  Help us spread the word!

As I sign off, let me tell you once again how blessed I am to serve the Lord with you, and what deep joy there is in delivering the Lord’s Word to you each week.  Your love for our Savior, for His Word, and for each other is so very encouraging!  My heart is always filled with gratitude to our faithful and loving Heavenly Father for each of you!  And I have you in my prayers constantly!

I love you all with all my heart,

    Mike
