  • Announcements – June 28, 2024

    Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
    This Sunday we will be blessed once again by the preaching of Gannon Miles, our pastoral intern.  Gannon will take Joshua 23 as his text, and his message is entitled ‘Joshua’s Charge to Israel for Our Church Today.’  Please lift him in your prayers to the Lord, and get familiar with the sixteen verses of this rich chapter from God’s Word.
    Also this Sunday, it will be a great joy to have Seth and Jessica Lewis, our missionaries to Ireland, with us in worship.  Seth will be giving us a report on their work during the service.  They will also be available in the Narthex both prior to and after worship so that you may speak to them personally and learn more of how the Lord is using them.

    ANNOUNCEMENTS

    Women’s Ministry
    • Senior Sisters meet monthly on the third Thursday from 10-11:30am.
    • Senior Sisters exercise class meets Tuesdays at the church, 10:00 to 11:30am.
    • Monthly luncheon will not be held the first Thursday of July. The regular schedule will resume on August 1st.

    Men’s Ministry
    • Senior Fellows – Our next breakfast will be at 9:00am on Tuesday, July 2nd.
    • Summer Book Study – “The Gathering Storm – Secularism, Culture and the Church” by Albert Mohler, Jr. Will meet for breakfast at 8am before each study, location TBA. Study will be on the following Wednesdays: July 3rd, 17th, 31st and August 14th, 28th at the church. Contact Joe Sims for more information.

    Career Ministry -The summer schedule for the career group will be Mondays at 6:30pm at Big Spring Park. Bring a chair & picnic supper (food trucks are also on site). Feel free to invite friends or other family members. All of Christ Pres is invited to join the Career Ministry for this concert series.

    Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
    This coming Sunday, it will be our privilege to have Gannon Miles in our pulpit delivering God’s Word to us.  Gannon will take his sermon text from the beloved Twenty-Third Psalm, and his message is entitled ‘The Shepherd Who Leads Us.’
    No matter how many times we might read and meditate upon these inspired words of king David, we are always happily stunned by the discovery of even more of their profound depth and power.  It is no stretch of the truth to say that one could well spend an entire lifetime prayerfully probing the six blessed verses of this little hymn to our Great Shepherd with no danger of exhausting their rich spiritual treasures!
    Please lift up Gannon in your prayers as he preaches for us, and spend the weekend immersing your heart and mind in this amazing passage as you prepare for worship.
    I also want to say another word of great appreciation for Dr. Matthew Elliott who preached so wonderfully for us the last two Sundays.  What a blessing he is to our Church family, and we are so very thankful for the gifts the Lord has bestowed upon him!
    I pray that you will have a most restful weekend, and that our Great King will pour out upon each of you the eternal riches of His grace!

  • Announcements – June 14, 2024

    Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
    This coming Sunday, Dr. Matthew Elliott will be delivering our sermon from 2 Samuel 12:15-23 entitled, “David Sought God.”
    This is the follow-up message to last week’s sermon on David’s great sin against the Lord (if you did not hear it, take a moment to listen to it or watch it before Sunday).  Let me encourage you to familiarize yourself with the events recorded in 2 Samuel 12 as you prepare for Lord’s Day worship.  I look forward to hearing the preaching of God’s Word and to leading our worship and the celebration of the Lord’s Supper.
    Once again let me express our great appreciation for Mrs. Anne Swanner and her team of faithful assistants and helpers who led our recent VBS.  It was a wonderful week of learning for our children, one that will bear blessed spiritual fruit for decades to come!

  • Announcements – June 7, 2024

    Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
    Two Prayer Requests
    Let me take a moment to ask that you pray for two important events taking place next week. First, our CPC Vacation Bible School begins this coming Monday June 10 through Thursday June 13.  Please pray for Mrs. Anne Swanner and her team of assistants and helpers as they teach the Word of God to our children.
    Then, please be in prayer for the PCA’s General Assembly taking place in Richmond, Virginia from Monday through Friday of next week.  You may discover more about this year’s meeting at the PCA GA website, https://pcaga.org
    June Preaching Schedule
    For the remaining Sundays in June we will be privileged to hear our own Dr. Matthew Elliott and Gannon Miles preaching for us.  Matthew will be delivering the sermon this coming Sunday June 9 and again on June 16.  And Gannon will preach for us on June 23 and June 30. Matthew’s message this week will be from 2 Samuel 12:1-15.  With each of you, I look forward to being fed richly from God’s Word. Please lift up Matthew and Gannon in your prayers as they minister to us.
    July 7-September 8 Sermon Series
    Beginning in July, I will be preaching on the subject of ‘The Gracious Commands of the Gospel.’  Each week for ten Sundays we will explore one of the commands that come to us as recipients of the grace of salvation in Christ our Lord. Among these are “run”, “stand,” flee,” “fight,” and “resist.”  I’ll tell you more about this series and the texts we will preach from as we approach the month of July.
