Sermon Preview

Dear Church Family,

Once again it will be our great joy to have Rev. Jim Daughtry in our pulpit this coming Lord’s Day while Mike is away on vacation.  Jim will be continuing the series on the Five Solas of the Reformation with a sermon from Romans 1:16-17 entitled, ‘The Righteousness That Is By Faith Alone.’  Please pray fervently for Jim as he prepares to deliver the Word of the Lord.

Flower Guild Demo: The Flower Guild will be hosting a floral demonstration on October 15 from 2-4:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Sign up in the Narthex.

Reformation Walk:

In honor of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, we are super excited to put on a Reformation Celebration for our children on Friday, October 27th, from 6 to 9 pm here at the church. Like Vacation Bible School, this is a wonderful opportunity to teach our children the truths of scripture, as well as a bit about church history, in a fun, festive environment!
We need many of you to make this happen! Volunteers may include couples or singles, young or old! We will also take middle or high school students as volunteers! Some of you men may like to help wrap wood sticks with duct tape at the “Armory.” There’s something for everyone!
**I would like our parents of elementary children free to walk around with their kids/learn with them. Therefore, if you fall into this category, feel free to attend only (or volunteer for something ahead of time).
Event Description
The parents/children will start at the City Gates, grab a bag, and wander through our “town,” stopping at each table to learn about various aspects of the Reformation and/or life and times of Martin Luther. Table crafts or activities are meant to be simple and fun, some geared more for younger kids, but all ages will enjoy this! Do NOT be intimidated by taking the lead on a table/booth. Again, we will provide most of the supplies or help with supplies, and we just need you to man the table and interact with the “customers.”
The list of needs can be found HERE. Please check it out and sign up for one of the available slots. If you plan to bring a spouse, friend, or student, please put that in the comments section when you sign up.
Contact Amy Drown if you have questions or want to be placed in any volunteer role. We also have candy and pie needs at the bottom of the sign-up, so feel free to do that!
Of course, all of you are invited to come and hang out with us that evening as “townspeople.” We would love to fill our church with members, grandchildren, visitors and neighbors!
A save-the-date is attached for you to invite a friend.
In Him,
Ashley

Bryant Baby Shower: All women of the church are invited to a baby shower honoring Stephanie Bryant on Sunday, November 5th, from 2 to 4 pm, at the Timbers’ Edge Clubhouse. RSVP HERE.

Church Work Day: We will have a Church Workday Saturday, October 28, starting at 8 AM. The purpose is to perform needed maintenance including landscaping and cleaning at the Church and Church House. In doing this we will have a great time of fellowship. We need the help of about 20 -25 adults and teens to help with this job. We also need tools. Please sign up to help and to bring designated tools in the narthex starting Sun, Oct 1. We will provide a light breakfast (coffee and donuts) and snack food. We plan to finish around noon. If the weather is bad, our backup day will be Saturday, November 4.
