The Supremacy of the Son: Part ThreeRev. Michael Calvert, Ph.D., February 9, 2020
Part of the Hebrews series.
This coming Sunday we will complete our ‘ Tour of the Seven Wonders of Jesus Our Lord’ as we examine the words of Hebrews 1:3.
There we read that, “ After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”
It is here that we encounter the final two of the seven glorious attributes of our Savior. First, He has secured for all time the full salvation of all who have believed upon Him. And secondly, He has taken His seat at the Father’s right hand, and now rules all of heaven and earth!
Once again, we will seek not only to understand the full meaning of these phrases, but also how these magnificent descriptions of Jesus powerfully move us to greater faithfulness, loyalty, and love for Him.
2Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. (KJV)
