Men and Women at Worship: Part One
Things are about to get very interesting in our study of the First Letter of Paul to Timothy. As we examine 1 Timothy 2:8-15 we will be probing one of the most challenged, disputed, and argued over passages in the entire New Testament!
What makes this passage so volatile is the subject matter at hand: men and women together in worship, and in the leadership of the Church.
Here, the Apostle Paul will address the roles and duties of Christian men and women (and husbands and wives) in the Church. With the very authority of Christ Himself, Paul will explain their respective functions in both Church worship and in Church leadership and, as we will see, with implications reaching beyond the Church into the Christian marriage and family.
Our careful study of 1 Timothy 2:8-15 will take place over several weeks as we walk most prayerfully and deliberately through these inspired words. This Lord’s Day our focus will be upon the men of the Church as set forth in the first part of verse 8: “I desire then that in every place the men should pray . . . .”
