Announcements and Order of Worship – May 17 2019

Sermon Preview

Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,

This coming Lord’s Day we look forward to our special service of worship where we will ordain and install four new Church Officers who have been elected by the congregation. This is a high moment in the life of our Church as we joyously recognize the Lord’s provision for the leadership and care of His people.

Our sermon, entitled “Becoming the Beautiful Body of Christ,” will come from Ephesians 4:11-16 where the Apostle Paul reveals the ultimate aim and purpose of the Lord’s Church. We discover this goal in the words of verse 13: “until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”

Sunday School Goes On Vacation

This coming Sunday is also the last day of Sunday School for the summer. Our summer Sunday School break will be from May 26 through September 1. We will begin the fall semester on September 8.

How You Can Help the HRPC

Don’t forget that we have a wonderful opportunity to assist the work of the Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center. Our Baby Bottle fundraiser is underway to benefit the Center. Be sure to stop by the Welcome Desk in the Narthex to pick up a bottle to deposit your spare change in over the next few weeks. Also, be watching for an invitation to attend a special baby shower this summer to benefit the center. Bottles may be returned any Sunday, with the final date to return them on Father’s Day, June 16. For more information about how you can be involved in other ways with the Center, contact Norman Dean or Christina Bagdazian.

I love you all and pray for you always,

Mike

Announcements:

HPRC: We are partnering with the Huntsville Pregnancy Resource Center to offer support for their ministry to families in Huntsville. On Mother’s Day we will have information available to determine how you can be involved at the Welcome desk. You can also stop by and pick up a baby bottle to deposit your pocket change (dollars and checks also accepted) every day to collect funds for the center. The bottle can be returned every Sunday in May in the Narthex with the final collection date on Father’s Day. This would make a great project for your children to be involved in, too. Watch for details this summer on an upcoming baby shower to gather baby supplies for the center to help the new mothers. Contact Christina Bagdazian, 256.812.2442, with any questions.

Senior Fellows: On Tuesday, May 29 at 10 AM the Senior Fellows will visit Dave Roesler’s backyard G-scale model train layout at 2605 Spicewood Trail NE, Huntsville (in the Saddlewood area). Carpools will leave the church at 9:30 AM. Kids and grand kids are welcome.

Children’s Ministry: Exciting times ahead as we kick off summer with a fellowship this Sunday, May 19th, at 5 pm at the Church House. Join us for pizza and dessert. Bring camping chairs and scooters or bikes if the kids want to ride.

VBS: Ashley still needs several lead volunteers to make sure VBS runs smoothly. Please click HERE and sign up to volunteer for one of these leadership positions. It is always such a blessing to all those involved! Specifically, I need the following:
**Classroom/group leaders (no teaching required)
**2-3 more bible storytellers (ask me for details – super fun!)

Nursery: Baby nursery volunteers are needed for the summer semester. Please click HERE to sign up for 1-2 Sundays over the course of the summer. Our babies love our member volunteers!

Greeting Ministry: I wanted to make you aware of an opportunity to support the work and worship of the church.  As the church has grown, we have noticed the need to expand and organize our greeting ministry on Sunday mornings.  It is a significant and tangible opportunity to welcome visitors and members each Sunday morning.  Though in a different context, we often overlook the fact that Paul regularly greeted the churches in his letters as well as encouraged Christ’s disciples to greet one another. I wanted to invite you to serve in this way, offering up 30 minutes on a Sunday morning to open doors, hand out bulletins, direct to visitors according to their needs, and simply welcome people to worship.  Members at all stages and stations of life are encouraged to serve.  For couples, it is a unique opportunity to serve your local church together. If you are interested, please navigate to the sign-up form (link below) for opportunities to serve during the summer months of June, July and August.  You are certainly welcome to sign up for multiple Sundays if you desire.  Upon signing up, you will receive a brief informational on ‘what to do.’  The sign-up form will generate a reminder email for you two days before the Sunday you are scheduled to serve.

In Him,
Matthew K Elliott
